Our cancer genetic counsellors help individuals and families understand the genetic factors that may contribute to their risk of developing cancer. It
involves a detailed discussion of the medical, psychological, and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease. Our licensed and experienced genetic counsellors collect personal and family health history to determine how likely
it is that the individual or their family members may have a genetic condition that could increase their risk of developing cancer. Based on the results of
genetic testing, our counsellor may provide recommendations for cancer screening and prevention and may also discuss options for managing the risk of cancer. The goal of our cancer genetic counselling is to empower individuals to
make informed decisions about their health, and to help them take proactive steps to reduce their risk of cancer or detect it early, when treatment is most
effective.
