Genetic and hereditary diseases are caused by changes or mutations in a person's DNA sequence. These changes can be inherited from one or both parents, or they can occur spontaneously during a person’s lifetime. Our genetic counsellors help individuals and families understand the risk of developing or passing on genetic disorders. They also provide information about the likelihood of developing a genetic disorder, the options for genetic testing.
